LANCASTER, Pa. — In January of 2015, Gladys Solomon,74, was just days away from foreclosure. She was behind on mortgage payments. She was determined not to lose the home she has lived in for the last 20 years. She raised two of her grandchildren there.

“I’m not anxious to run off some place and don’t know where I’m going. I’m accustomed to my house,” said Solomon.

She did not want a hand out. Between selling her shirts, being able to get a loan modification with help from a lawyer, and contributions her home was saved from foreclosure.

“Everyone was very generous, big hearted angels” she added.

An anonymous donor even gave her $5,000.

” I just want to thank them from the bottom of my heart and know that God will always bless him or her whomever,” she said.

She has received letters of encouragement and some thanking her for the words she put on the shirts she is continuing to sell

She even sells the shirts in New York when she goes to visit her husband who is in a nursing home.   The money she makes will be put toward her new, lower mortgage. Her lawyer, Alaine Grbach, of Lancaster, worked for free to help her.

“We did it. With the help of God. We did it,” she stated.

She needs to sell about 25 shirts a week to continue with a comfortable income. She has ideas that go beyond the shirts.
