YORK CITY, Pa. –  A detour is poised to go into effect for the heavily traveled West Philadelphia Street bridge in York City.  The bridge will be closed at Pershing Avenue beginning at 6:00 am on Tuesday to allow the contractor working on the bridge project to switch lanes.

The work on the south side of the bridge has been completed and work will now shift to the north side. The contractor will relocate barricades and signs to prepare for traffic to shift to the southern lane.

West Philadelphia Street will be closed for several hours. All traffic will be detoured from Philadelphia Street, south on Pershing Avenue to West College Avenue and then north on Penn Street to Philadelphia Street.

The Philadelphia Street Bridge project is expected to be completed by the end of November.
