HARRISBURG, Pa.– Today, Harrisburg citizens laced up their sneakers for a good cause. The 33rd annual ‘Harrisburg Mile’ was held to support programs and scholarships for youth and child care at the East Shore YMCA.

The race follows a one-mile course which begins at Maclay Street and continues along Front Street. There are thirteen different mile heats, inuding the Just for Fun Run/Walk and the Elite Mile.

Participants are able to enjoy fun activities and refreshments along the Susquehanna River once they’ve crossed the finished line. There is also an awards ceremony at the end of the event.

Runner Linda Felo says, “There’s a lot of families that participate and I think its just a great event. Of course, one of the benefits is the beer tent afterwards.”

The annual fundraiser is certainly a popular one, with over $579,000 raised for the East Shore YMCA so far.
