LETTERKENNY, Pa- State troopers were called to Letterkenny Park around 8:30pm Friday for reports of Larry Woodal firing shots off of his porch. The police report states, when they arrived Woodal was on his porch with his rifle. State police say they asked him to drop the gun and he refused. He began shooting.

" I thought it was fireworks,” said Matthew Luthens, neighbor.

Other neighbors say they heard a trooper yell “I’m hit”. State police say the trooper was shot in the leg allegedly by Woodal.  Woodal continued shooting and gun fire was exchanged. Woodal was hit by a trooper’s bullet. Woodal was flown to Hershey Medical Center. The officer was taken to Chambersburg Hospital and later released.

“I was pretty surprised because this neighborhood is pretty quiet and I knew the guy. I use to work with him,” added Luthens.

Woodal will face multiple charges including attempted homicide. Neighbors say his motive may have been he was upset over received an eviction notice.
