A fair in York County was full of fun and games for kids and their families on Saturday, but it also gave them information on how to prevent child abuse. The first ever Children's Fair, sponsored by the York County Court Appointed Special Advocates, was held at the Hellam Fire Company.

It included a chicken barbecue and carnival games. All of the activities and food was free for kids ages 18 and under.
Experts were also on hand to show families the resources available to help youngsters.

"What we're doing out here today is focusing on child abuse awareness with the York County CASA program. We deal with abused and neglected children here in the York County Child Welfare system and it's really important to have everybody come out and get educated," said Dewayne Nichols, Community Outreach Educational Facilitator with CASA.

All proceeds from the activities at the Children's Fair go toward services to prevent child abuse and neglect.
