CAMP HILL, Pa. - Members of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America gathered at the Digiplex Cinema in Camp Hill to spread their message.
"By advocating for commonsense, middle of the road, gun laws that do not infringe on gun owners second amendment rights; infact, many of us are gun owners, but that help to keep our country safer," said Pennsylvania chapter leader, Deb Marteslo.
" I'm a gun owner, but I also believe in common sense gun laws; closing the loopholes," said member Audrey Plassio.
The group is a branch of Everytown for Gun Safety the largest gun violence prevention orgnization in the country. Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense was formed after the Sandy Hook shootings.
" We want to see background checks completed on every gun sale in this country," said Marteslo.
This is a nationwide effort. Specifically, they are asking people to contact Congress about two loopholes.
The first allows people to privately sell guns without any backround checks. The other, is being called the "Carolina Loophole". It allows dealers to sell a gun if the background check results do not come back within three days.
Bills have been drafted to fill the gaps. Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense handed out directions for people to contact Congress.
They state to call: 888-907-2018 or text "Charleston" to 877-877 and you will be given messaging guidelines to contact your senators.
