YORK TOWNSHIP, Pa —  Baseball players braved the heat Thursday to compete in the Keystone State Games in York County. Some players took part in the baseball pool game at York Township Park in hopes of clinching a spot in the finals on Sunday.

With temperatures well over 80 degrees Red Cross volunteers had plenty of water and ice to keep everyone hydrated. A Wellspan Sports Management team was also on hand to watch for signs of heat-related illness. “They just feel kind of queasy, maybe nauseous, a little light-headed, lose their energy, they feel overly fatigued. It’s tough to tell with the players because they all want to play so they won’t tell you, you have to find it yourself,” said Farzad Pourarian with Wellspan Sports Medicine.
