Unconscious family dog rescued in 2 alarm apartment fire

LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. – A family dog is rescued in a two alarm fire at a Lancaster Township apartment complex.  Firefighters, responding at about 4 pm to 315 Waterford Court at Sterling Place, reported heavy smoke and fire pouring from a second floor rear bedroom of the two story apartment house.  The fire quickly went to two alarms for additional manpower.

waterfordIMG_20150730_170723989The family in the home escaped safely, but the family dog had to be rescued. The unconscious pet was revived with oxygen. The fire was under control in less than a half hour.

No word on an estimate of damage. The American Red Cross providing the family with emergency assistance. A State Police Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.

The family surrendered the dog to the Lancaster County SPCA. The dog was transported for emergency medical treatment and is fighting for its life.

The Lancaster County SPCA is working to raise money for Rocky’s medical care and to reunite him with his family.
