PHILADELPHIA, PA — Like most brides, Christine Quinn wanted a life-long best friend to stand with her on her wedding day.
But in this case, that friend was her 89-year-old grandmother, a.k.a. Nana Betty, according to Huffington Post.
“You’re only as old as you feel and I feel young today,” Nana Betty said on the wedding day, according to the bride.
Christine said that asking her grandmother was a ‘no brainer’ but she never expected her to say yes.
“She asked me about 10 times, ‘Are you sure?’ and ‘Why would you want an old lady in your bridal party?'” Christine told HuffPost. “A few times she even said ‘All of your bridesmaids are young and pretty, why would you want me?’
Ultimately Nana Betty agreed and, “She had the entire wedding party laughing with her words of wisdom and funny comments throughout the day,” Christine said.
Christine Quinn married her husband Patrick Quinn on May 2 at the Please Touch Museum in Philadelphia; the couple coincidentally already shared the same last name.
