UPDATE: PA state police just tweeted that they have captured Robert Crissman, the fugitive who escaped yesterday.

 

RAYBURN TWP., Armstrong County, Pa. –State police are searching for this man – Robert Crissman – after he escaped from the Armstrong County jail in western Pennsylvania Thursday morning.

They also say he is considered a homicide suspect.

According to news outlets in Pittsburgh – Crissman left the jail sometime between six and seven o’clock in the morning and went to a nearby home belonging to two people he knew.

Later that morning, the man who lived there returned home and discovered the body of his girlfriend, 55-year-old Tammy Long.

Police say Crissman was spotted driving a stolen 1999 maroon Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck with an extended cab, a union carpenter sticker on the back window of the cap and red putty on the rear fender wells. The license plate is Pennsylvania ZDB-5831.

Crissman was behind bars for a probation violation related to a drug charge.

Governor Wolf was briefed on the manhunt for escaped Armstrong County inmate Robert Crissman and released the following statement:

“Pennsylvania State Police are working with the Armstrong County District Attorney’s Office, U.S. Marshals and local law enforcement to find and capture Robert Crissman, who should be considered very dangerous. I ask Pennsylvanians to be vigilant and call 911 if you see anything or believe you have information that may help authorities locate and apprehend this fugitive.”
