EAST LAMPETER TWP., Lancaster County, Pa. –Police say a speeding motorcycle rider who fled police and rode through two work zones at a high rate of speed was also under the influence of alcohol. An officer saw a dark motorcycle with a male operator speeding westbound in the 2400 blk of Lincoln Highway East around 12:48am on July 30th.

The rider continued flee onto Route 30 westbound, accelerating to extreme speeds.    When patrol officers closed in on the motorcycle the operator came to a stop in the area of New Holland Pike.   The operator was identified as Philip Joel Eshelman, 20, of Manheim Twp Eshelman was placed under arrest for Fleeing and Eluding and DUI.  He is charged with Fleeing or Attempting to Elude Police Officer, Driving Under the Influence- General Impairment, Driving Under the Influence- Minors, Minor Prohibited from Operating with any Alcohol in System, Purchase Consumption Possession or Transportation of Liquor or Malt or Brewed Beverages, and Reckless Driving.   Eshelman was arraigned at Central Booking and committed to Lancaster Co. Prison in lieu of $20,000 bail.
