NEW FREEDOM, Pa.–A 21-year-old man was arrested by U.S. Marshals on Friday after police said he kidnapped and assaulted a woman in New Freedom on July 24.

Authorities charged Austin Myers, of Dover,  with kidnapping, simple assault, terroristic threats, false imprisonment and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.  He was arrested Friday at a home along Route 30 in Thomasville and taken to York County Prison in lieu of $250,000 bail.

According to police reports, Myers was involved in a domestic dispute with a woman at Veteran’s Park in New Freedom on July 24. Police said the argument escalated when Myers  punched the woman in the face and then forced the woman into her own vehicle. Myers got in and began driving towards Ocean City, Maryland.

During the drive–Myers allegedly threatened to tie the woman up and put her in the trunk. The woman was eventually able to escape when she opened the car door and fell onto the road, authorities said. Myers fled and the woman was taken to a local hospital by an ambulance crew who witnessed the incident along the highway, police said.
