YORK, Pa. - A central Pennsylvania singer/songwriter says people aren't sure how to categorize his unique sound. When Cody French hits the stage, he transforms into an artist with smooth sounds unlike anything you may have heard before.  French is a Gettysburg resident who says his songwriting is inspired by life and the things happening around him. He says people have given his music the title of "folk-rock" or "alternative-rock", but he explains when it comes to playing music, he prefers to do his own thing.

French says he got his first guitar when he was about 6 or 7-years-old, and started writing his own music at 14. He currently plays around the area at local venues including the upcoming event "Gettysburg Rocks." French will be one of more than 150 acts set to perform at the weekend-long event that benefits the Four Diamonds Fund. You can catch him Saturday August 8 at Reid's Winery and Cider House in Gettysburg.
