SWATARA TOWNSHIP, Pa. -- People in Dauphin County swung their golf clubs for a good cause Tuesday morning.

About 140 golfers teed off at the Dauphin Highlands Golf Course in Swatara Township. It's part of a national event that raises money for the Wounded Warrior Project.

In its first four years, the event raised more than $2 million nationwide. This year, they're set to raise another $1 million.

"It's great to contribute to a national cause like this," Chris Strand, general manager for Dauphin Highlands said. "I think there's 160 or so courses playing this year."

Strand said more than 12,000 people were expected to participated in the event this year.

Part of the event proceeds and 100% of donations from players and non-players benefit the Wounded Warrior Project. The organization honors and empowers injured service men and women as well as their caregivers and families.

Donations will be accepted through Friday at worldslargestgolfouting.com.
