YORK, Pa. – Part of an abandoned church in York collapsed early Wednesday afternoon. It happened at the intersection of North Duke Street and East 6th Avenue around 1 p.m. A construction crew was in the process of tearing down part of a wall when a larger piece gave way and fell onto the street.
No one was hurt and engineers will be brought in to examine if the church is still structurally sound.
The sidewalk on east 6th Street will be closed off until further notice.
