NORRISTOWN, Pa. -- Pennsylvania Attorney General Kathleen Kane has been told she will be charged with a series of crimes Thursday, including perjury, stemming from a 2014 grand jury testimony, according to WNEP-TV in Kane's hometown of Scranton, Pa.

Kane is expected inside a Montgomery County courthouse Thursday, sources told WNEP on Wednesday. Kane is expected to be charged with perjury, obstruction of justice, and criminal contempt.

Kane testified to a Montgomery County grand jury in November 2014 she had not knowingly supplied the Philadelphia Daily News with secret information from a 2009 grand jury investigation concerning a Philadelphia civil rights activist. In December, the grand jury reported to Montgomery County Judge William Carpenter they believed Kane had lied under oath and attempted to cover up her actions. The grand jury recommended to Carpenter that Kane be charged with the crimes she is reportedly expected to be charged with Thursday.

Since April, the case has been in the hands of Montgomery County District Attorney Risa Ferman, a Republican, who has been investigating the grand jury's claims since Judge Carpenter handed her the case that month. Kane, Pennsylvania's first female and Democrat to be elected attorney general, has maintained her innocence throughout her legal process. She has publicly stated she intends to seek re-election for the state's attorney general position, after winning in a landslide in 2012.

Kane's spokesperson in the attorney general's office, Chuck Ardo, told the Pittsburgh Tribune Review on Wednesday he had no knowledge of pending charges, but added that Kane, "will make a statement if and when that happens."
