Elderly woman killed when deer crashes through windshield

CUMBERLAND COUNTY, Pa. – A Newburg woman is killed when a deer crashes through her windshield.  It happened shortly before 11:30 am on Ritner Highway at McAllister Church Road in West Pennsboro Township.  The deer was struck by an oncoming vehicle, flew up and went through the windshield.

County Coroner Charley Hall pronounced Virginia Chain, 84, dead at the scene of multiple blunt force trauma.  Authorities did not say whether Chain was the driver or the passenger in the vehicle.

The Pennsylvania State Police is continuing to investigate the accident.
