Harrisburg man pistol-whipped, shot at rooming house

HARRISBURG, Pa.–A man was pistol-whipped and shot during an attack Thursday morning at a rooming house in Harrisburg.

The 29-year-old man told police he was asleep in his room along the 400 block of Hale Avenue when three men barged in around 4:57 a.m.

The suspects pistol-whipped the victim and demanded his valuables. One of the men pulled out a gun and then shot the victim in his shoulder, police said. He was taken to a local hospital and rushed into surgery. He is expected to be okay, investigators said.

Witnesses who live in the rooming house told police they heard a loud commotion and then spotted a man leaving the victim’s room with a rifle. The¬† suspect is described as a black male, 5’9″, 160 to 170 pounds.
