Widespread showers and thunderstorms for Thursday

Southerly –southeasterly flow continues to pump in humid air. Showers and a few thunderstorms will be possible through evening before it quiets down overnight. In the morning, temperatures will be quite warm in the low to mid 70s and it will feel quite oppressive. There may be a shower or two; otherwise, it will be hazy, and mainly overcast. Showers and thunderstorms are expected to become more widespread through the day. Some of the storms will have the potential for producing heavy downpours. Flash flooding will be a concern along with gusty winds. The Storm Prediction Center has the area in a small/marginal risk for severe weather.

Highs will be cooler in the low 80s. The front will not push east until after midnight, at which time, drier air slowly spills in ending the rain threat by Friday morning. Humidity levels will fall significantly ending the week on a more comfortable note. Clouds will be slower to scour out but skies should brighten nicely through the day. Highs will be close to seasonal highs in the low to mid 80s.

As high pressure builds in, a north-northwest breeze keeps it feeling comfortable into the start of the weekend. Highs will be seasonal in the low 80s. The high adjust further to the east over New England setting up the winds more out of the east-northeast. This will result in more clouds for Sunday. The humidity will go up slightly but shouldn’t be too much of a factor. High temperatures warm to the low 80s. If you are traveling to the beaches, you may encounter some drizzle and more clouds which will not make for the best beach day.

Weekend Outlook
The next cold front comes in late Monday. There is not a lot of moisture accompanying this system so only an isolated chance is expected for showers and thunderstorms. We get a short-lived boost in the temps to the mid 80s but they cool down as an upper level trough settles in over the area from Tuesday and beyond. Highs will drop a few degrees hovering close to 80 degrees under plenty of sunshine through mid-week.
