HANOVER, Pa. – Two York County men face charges in an early morning armed home invasion robbery in Hanover Borough. Police responded to a report of a burglary in progress at 3:45 am Friday in the first block of Broadway. While enroute police were notified of a possible gunshot fired in the apartment that was being burglarized.

When officers arrived on the scene, two male suspects were seen running away.  The men, later identified as Muhummand Drakeford, 37, of York and Daniel Markle, 33, of Lewisberry, were taken into custody after a brief foot pursuit. A stolen handgun was also recovered.

Police say the pair forced their way into an apartment and confronted three people, a 26 year old woman, a 23 year old man and a 33 year old man, all of Hanover.  Markle allegedly waved a handgun while demanding property from the victims.  Police also confirmed that the handgun was fired during the incident, but no one was injured.

Charges against Drakeford included Robbery, Burglary, Criminal Trespass and Criminal Attempt to Commit Theft. Following arraignment, Drakeford was sent to York County Prison in lieu of $200,000.
An arrest warrant was issued for Markle charging him with Robbery, Burglary, Criminal Trespass, Unlawful Restraint, Simple Assault, Recklessly Endangering Another Person, Theft, Receiving Stolen Property, and Persons Not to Possess Firearms. He was taken to an area hospital for treatment of a pre-existing medical condition.  He remains under police guard pending his discharge from the hospital.

The investigation continues, anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Hanover Borough Police Department at (717) 637-5575 or through York County 911.
