LANCASTER, Pa - Children in Lancaster are getting some flashy new gear for the new school year.

State Representative Mike Sturla, hosted his Fourth Annual 'Back to School Giveaway' at the Lancaster Recreation Center on Saturday.

Students took home backpacks, pencils, notebooks, along with other supplies to prepare them for a successful year.

Mike Sturla's Legislative Assistant, Mena Rodriguez says, "For projects like this, there's a lot of kids who would not be able to go to school with a backpack and supplies that they need.  There's a lot of families that have a lot of children, it becomes very expensive."

President of the Lancaster Elks Club, Butch Johns says, "With volunteering, you see smiles on these little fellas, these ladies and young men, to see their faces, it's priceless."

The giveaway also included a free lunch, face painting, and music.
