LOWER ALLEN TOWNSHIP, Pa. - Some Cumberland County athletes are making sure they don't drop the ball when it comes to caring for those in need, The Cedar Cliff High school football team has a game plan to help the homeless beat the cold this coming winter. They will be holding a "Socks 'N Sweats" drive for the Bethesda Mission in Harrisburg.
The community, students and entire school are challenged to give gently used or new sweatshirts and socks a select games.
"It's wonderful that the kids are involved," Bethesda Mission Executive Director Chuck Wingate said, "that they're not content just to just know about it and forget about, but they want to do something and this is real tangible impact that they can have that's going to keep somebody warm this winter."
The drive kicks off September 4 and runs through November 6.
