HARRISBURG, Pa. – The state budget is now 58 days overdue. Negotiations between Republicans and Governor Wolf have stalled over details in the budget.  On Wednesday, Republican Legislative leaders say they expected to resume talks with Wolf after they made their new offer on pensions and increased school funding last week, but the governor canceled that meeting. The day before, Wolf met with caucus leaders to talk about the budget, but they left without a deal.

Wolf is now speaking out about the stalemate.

“I tried to get the presses moving by saying ‘okay, pensions are important to everybody, education is really important to me,'” the governor said, “‘let’s start with those two things,’ and that’s what we started, and I think we’ve made some real progress and we had a little bump in the road… I think just with incomplete information and data I think at Tuesday’s meeting. So, we’ll continue to work; we have to have a budget.”

The governor says he can’t make this important decision without receiving all the needed information.

A future date for negotiations with Republicans hasn’t been set.
