Carlisle man charged in Mechanicsburg bank robbery

MECHANICSBURG, Pa. – Mechanicsburg Borough Police charge a Carlisle man in the Thursday evening robbery of Santander Bank, in the 700 block of East Simpson Street.

Jeffrey Turns, 32, was arrested minutes after the robbery.  Police recovered the money taken in the robbery, plus a handgun. Police have also impounded Turns getaway vehicle, a blue Ford Mustang.

Turns is charged with Robbery, Persons Not to Possess a Firearm, Firearms Not to Carried Without a License, Recklessly Endangering Another Person, and Receiving Stolen Property. The firearms charges were the result of Turns 2008 conviction for robbery.santanderIMG_20150827_183232553

Following arraignment, Turns was sent to Cumberland County Prison in lieu of $250,000. Police say their investigation is ongoing and more charges may be filed.
