PHILADELPHIA — Thirty thousand tickets will be made available this week, giving the public a chance to get even closer to Pope Francis during his visit to Philadelphia later this month.

Starting Tuesday at noon, 10,000 tickets will be offered online  to attend the pope’s private, ticket-only event held at the Independence Mall on September 26th.

That’s when he’ll give a speech on immigration and religious freedom.

In addition to those tickets, thousands more will be given out to parishes with large immigrant populations.

These tickets are free and first come, first serve.

On Wednesday, additional tickets will also be available online for two events taking place along the Benjamin Franklin Parkway on September 26 and 27.

There will be general admission areas for the public during those events, but these tickets will allow visitors to get closer to all the action.

Organizers expect some 1.5 million people to attend Pope Francis’s public mass Sunday.
