YORK COUNTY, Pa. – Southwestern Regional Police is warning residents of distraction burglary suspects posing as Adams Electric employees operating in Manheim Township.

On Wednesday at about 5:00 pm, a hispanic male in his 30’s posing as a representative of Adams Electric appeared at the front door of a resident in the 6000 block of Hoffacker Road. He told the resident about the placement of underground wires near the property.

The resident, locked his front door, and stood in the front yard while the man discussed the installation of underground electric lines.  The conversation continued for about 10 to 15 minutes. Afterwards the man got into a white vehicle and left.

Returning to his home, the resident discovered that someone had broken through the front door and had went through the home.The intruder had removed items from cabinets and placed them by the front door left without taking anything. The burglar appeared to have been frighten away by the returning resident. Nothing was missing from the home.

Southwestern Regional Police asks if anyone has any information on the incident to contact Officer Skyler Sterner at (717) 232-6732.

Adams Electric Cooperative advises homeowners to look for the Adams Electric logo on clothing, hats and vehicles and ask for an Adams Electric issued photo ID from anyone entering a property posing as an Adams Electric employee or contractor.
