A New York man accused of shooting a York County jewelry store owner during a robbery has been convicted by a federal jury.

According to U.S. Attorney Peter Smith, Jesse Brewer, 40, of Jamaica, New York, was found guilty Wednesday of interference with commerce by robbery and use of a firearm during the commission of a crime of violence.

Brewer shot John White, the owner of White Jewelers at 204 St. Charles Way in York Township, while he and two accomplices were robbing the store of more than 50 Rolex watches valued at over $500,000 in July 2012.

White was shot as he walked out of a back room and was wounded by gunshots to his left arm, chest, and stomach.

A co-defendant, Jamell Smallwood of Allentown, pleaded guilty previously and was sentenced to 17 years in prison. The second alleged accomplice, Timothy Forbes of Allentown, also pleaded guilty and is awaiting sentencing.

Smith said the jury deliberated two hours after the three-day trial before U.S. District Court Judge William Caldwell.

No sentencing date was set for Brewer.
