LANCASTER, Pa.–A 54-year-old man who burglarized an elderly woman’s home in Lancaster in February was sentenced Tuesday to seven to 20 years in prison, according to the Lancaster District Attorney’s office.

Jimmy Torres, of Ephrata, broke into a home along East Orange Street on Feb. 9, prosecutors said. The 78-year-old woman awoke during the burglary and Torres fled. The woman wasn’t injured during the incident.

Police caught up with Torres and found a glove on his person that matched its mate found at the scene of the crime, prosecutors said. Investigators also found Torres in possession of items that were taken during the burglary.

Authorities said Torres has a lengthy criminal history that dates back to 1981.
