LANCASTER, Pa.–A Lancaster man will get jail time after he admitted to leaving his four children, all under the age of 5, home alone while he went to a friends house last year, according to the Lancaster County District Attorney’s office.

A judge sentenced 27-year-old Tyrell Boyer to serve one to two years in Lancaster County Prison. Boyer left his children home alone in Sept. 2014 while their mother was at work, prosecutors said. A neighbor called 911 after finding a 2-year-old boy wandering alone on Rockland Street.

Investigators discovered Boyer left the children alone in the family room and moved a washing machine so they wouldn’t be able to get into the kitchen. Boyer claimed he was  gone for an hour or two.

Upon his release from prison, Boyer will be required to complete a parenting class and comply with Children and Youth.
