LATIMORE TOWNSHIP, Pa. -  A man spent hours trapped inside his mini-van on Sunday, after crashing into the side of an old stone mill.

It happened around 3:30 p.m. on Mill Road near Mountain Road in Latimore Township, Adams County.

Fire officials say 74-year-old Gary Frice of Levittown, failed to make a left turn on Mountain Road and slammed his mini-van into the barn.

Authorities say the front end of his car crashed through the floor, causing his legs to get stuck under the dash of the vehicle. Due to the instability of the building, crews had to shore up the building before they could get inside to cut Frice from his vehicle. Crews eventually got him out safely.

Frice was airlifted to the hospital, with serious injuries.

About two hours later, his mini-van was pulled from the structure. Excavation units are now examining the damage to see if the mill can be rebuilt. The mill dates back to 1764.

The owner considers it be historic and does not want to see it torn down.

However, after a number of crashes over the years because it sits so close to the road, many feel the mill is unsafe.
