UNION TWP., Lebanon County, Pa — The runaway girl state police thought may have been the victim in a 42 year-old cold case murder is actually very much alive. State Police held a press conference last week trying to drum up new leads in the 1973 case, where a game warden found the nude, decomposing body of a 16-20 year-old female covered by a tarp in a wooded area off Moonshine Road at the intersection of Ridge Road and Tomstown Road in Union Township. The victim was probably dead for 1-3 weeks before her body was discovered.
Investigators believed their Jane Doe may have been Betsy Langjahr, a teen who along with three other teens, ran away from a nearby group home around that time. Investigators were able to eliminate the other three teens as possible Jane Does, but until now, not Langjahr.
State Police would not say where they found Langjahr living now, only that she is alive and well.
