COLD NIGHT AHEAD: After a chilly and breezy afternoon with some of the coolest air so far this fall season, a cold night is ahead. The clouds crumble a bit through the evening hours, and temperatures are quick to cool as the breezes fade. Overnight lows in the lower to middle 30s are expected. Due to this, a Freeze Warning is in effect for the region from 3 A.M. until 9 A.M. Sunday. Those with agricultural interests need to be wary. Protect any tender vegetation from potential damage. Those with potted plants should bring them inside for the night. After sunrise, temperatures slowly rise into the 40s.
SUNDAY REPEAT: Sunday brings more of the same for the Lower Susquehanna River Valley. After morning sunshine, clouds bubble up once more for the afternoon. The winds increase too, bringing an added chill to the already crisp fall feel. A few spotty showers and flakes are still possible too, especially to the northwest. Highs are a bit cooler. You can expect afternoon readings in the middle 40s to near 50 degrees. Yet another frigid night is expected Sunday night into early Monday morning. Overnight lows fall into the upper 20s to lower 30s, with frost and freeze concerns back again.
DRY WITH WARMING: After yet another cold start Monday morning, temperatures slowly rebound through the middle of the week. Plenty of sunshine is expected Monday through Wednesday. Afternoon temperatures respond nicely to the added sunshine. Readings rise from the lower to middle 50s Monday afternoon to near 70 degrees on Wednesday afternoon. Our next cold front passes through Thursday, but it is moisture starved. Expect more clouds and a small chance for a light shower or two. It’s back to sunshine leading into next weekend, with afternoon temperatures in the lower to middle 60s Friday and Saturday.
