HARRISBURG, Pa.–A man was arrested early Saturday after a disturbance outside of Double D’s Bar in Harrisburg.

Dane Merrit, 52, of Harrisburg, is charged with three counts of recklessly endangering another person, resisting arrest, firearms not to be carried without a license, former convict not to possess firearm and public drunkenness. He was arraigned and taken to Dauphin County Prison in lieu of $500,000 bail.

Officers were on patrol near 19th and Brooke Wood Streets when they noticed a disturbance in front of Double D’s Bar and heard shots fired around 12:45 a.m.

According to police reports, the incident began when Merritt attempted to enter the bar with a gun–but the bouncers requested he leave. Merritt refused and the bouncers escorted him out of the building. That’s when police said shots were fired. Nearby officers immediately responded to the area and found Merritt crouched behind a nearby vehicle.

As officers were attempting to take Merritt into custody, a brief struggle ensued. Merritt was eventually arrested.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Oct. 27.
