HARRISBURG, Pa. - Businesses in Dauphin County are being recognized for providing employment opportunities to those with special needs. Dauphin County Commissioner George Hartwick was on hand to give out the recognition to 10 businesses on Friday.
However, Commissioner Hartwick says today is about much more than just handing out awards.
"Offering folks an opportunity to overcome challenges every single day," Hartwick said, "You find employees that bring a significant amount of value to your company. Today's just not about trying to provide a spot or opportunity for someone, but really the opportunity to expand the diversity in your business that results in better business. it's a win, win, win all the way around."
Hartwick also read a proclamation that named October as Disability Awareness Month in Dauphin County.
