LANCASTER, Pa — A former teacher at a Lancaster County high school was sentenced Monday in Lancaster County Court for corrupting a student in 2006.

James S. Dwight III will serve five years of probation, in accordance with a plea agreement.

Dwight, who since moved to Massachusetts, pleaded guilty to misdemeanor counts of corruption of minors in exchange for the sentence, which is within state sentencing guidelines.

Dwight, then 38, had sexual contact with the girl – a 17-year-old student – at his North Pine Street home in June 2006.

The girl was above Pennsylvania’s legal age of consent; however, she is still legally a minor.
Assistant District Attorney Karen Mansfield prosecuted the case.

County Judge David Ashworth accepted the plea agreement and ordered sentence.

Dwight has no prior criminal record.
