NEW HOLLAND, Pa.–Some seniors in Lancaster County got into the Christmas spirit a little early today.

Volunteers and residents assembled 100 gift packages at Garden Spot Village in New Holland. The boxes will be sent to children in need all over the world this holiday season as part of “Operation Christmas Child.”

Last year more than 45,000 boxes were sent from the Lancaster, Lebanon and York areas. The boxes are filled with everything from socks to toys.

Organizers are hoping to send out even more boxes this year.
