HARRISBURG, Pa. – There’s a chance Pennsylvanians could see a finalized state budget plan by Thanksgiving. In an email sent out to Republican legislators on Friday afternoon, Pennsylvania House Majority Leader Dave Reed predicted the end of the budget stalemate.

“Following up on last week’s update, we are making progress towards the framework of what could lead to a final budget compromise,” Reed’s email said. “Our goal is to work with our colleagues in the Senate  to produce a budget deal that will bring this budget impasse to an end and move Pennsylvania forward.”

Reed’s memo also mentioned that the deal could include changes to the state’s liquor and pension systems, and increased education funding.

The state budget is now 130 days overdue, and the lack of funding has affected businesses, organizations, and schools statewide.
