HARRISBURG, Pa.–A 33-year-old man is facing attempted homicide charges after police said he intentionally hit a pedestrian in Harrisburg last month.

Norman Marrero, of Harrisburg, is charged with criminal attempt homicide, aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, DUI, and various traffic violations. He was arraigned Sunday and taken to Dauphin County Prison in lieu of $250,000 bail.

Officers responded to the 2000 block of State Street for a report of a hit and run on Oct. 31. Police stopped Marrero’s vehicle along the 100 block of North 16th Street. Officers smelled a strong odor of alcohol and marijuana coming from Marrero when they stopped him, according to police reports.

Authorities learned Marrero had been involved in a bar fight earlier that night along State Street. After he left the bar, Marrero purposely drove his vehicle towards the victim and hit him, police said.

The victim received medical treatment for his injuries and is expected to recover.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Nov. 18.
