Attempted robbery/shooting at York City bar

YORK, Pa. – York City Police are on the lookout for a suspect in an early afternoon attempted robbery and shooting.  It happen shortly after 2 pm at Norman’s Place bar in the 300 Block of East College Avenue.

Officers responding to the call discovered shooting victim, James Murray. Officers rendered aid to Murray, who was shot at least one time in the chest. He was shot during a struggle inside the bar with a male suspect who was attempting to rob the bar owner.

The nearby Hannah Penn school was placed on lockdown while police continued their investigation. None of the students were in danger.

Murray was transported to York Hospital where he is listed in stable condition.  Anyone with information on this incident are encouraged to call the York City Police Department at (717) 846-1234 or 755- TIPS.
