CHAMBERSBURG, Pa.–Police say a 34-year-old man has confessed to stealing a vehicle with a dog inside of it last week in Chambersburg.

Aaron S. Karle, of Chambersburg, turned himself into state police on Friday afternoon. He had warrants out for his arrest in an unrelated incident and was on the run for about a year, police said.

Karle initially denied his involvement with stealing the vehicle from the Sheetz on Norland Avenue in Chambersburg on Wednesday, but later confessed, according police reports.

Onyx, a 12-year-old black Labrador, was inside when it was stolen. Both Onyx and the stolen vehicle were recovered in Antrim Township on Friday.

Karle was arraigned taken to Franklin County Prison on outstanding warrants. Charges related to the car theft are expected to be filed within the next week.
