EARL TOWNSHIP, Pa.–A man was arrested last week after police said he showed up to his preliminary hearing in Lancaster County with marijuana.

Matthew S. Patterson, 32,  is charged with possession of marijuana and driving without a license.

Patterson was initially arrested for retail theft at Yoder’s Market in New Holland Borough on Nov. 20.

When he showed up to Judge Rodney Hartman’s office in Earl Township for his preliminary hearing on Nov. 25–police said he was in possession of marijuana.  Patterson, who was out on bail, then lied to the judge about the address where he lived, investigators said.

He was arraigned on the new charges and taken to Lancaster County Prison in lieu of $50,000 b

Patterson doesn’t have a current drivers license and was seen driving his vehicle to court, according to police reports.

His next court date is scheduled for Dec. 10.
