The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) today announced that on Thursday, December 3, weather permitting, a York County maintenance crew will patch the Interstate 83 southbound bridge deck over U.S. 30 near the Exit 21 interchange just north of the City of York in Manchester Township, York County.

PennDOT advises motorists that this operation will restrict southbound I-83 traffic to a single lane as well as close the I-83 South Exit 21 ramp for eastbound U.S. 30 between 9 AM and 11 AM. Until repairs are complete, motorists are encouraged to use Exit 22 for Route 181, George Street, south to U.S. 30 East as an alternate route.

This section of southbound I-83 averages more than 27,900 vehicles traveled daily. To avoid delays, travelers should allow for additional time in their plans or seek an alternate route.

PennDOT reminds motorists, to obey work zone signs, and to slow down when approaching and traveling through work zones, not only for their safety, but for the safety of the road crews.

Motorists can check conditions on more than 40,000 roadway miles by visiting www.511PA.com. 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information and access to more than 770 traffic cameras, 94 of which are in the Midstate.
