HELLAM TOWNSHIP, Pa. - Madison Barrick has been diagnosed with Retts Syndrome. The genetic disorder is rare, and has left her confined to a wheelchair and unable to talk.

In order to help make the holiday a little more special for her family, the Tourist Inn in Hellam Township, York County held a benefit in her honor. The event is held each year and raises money for families like Madison's through auctioning off collectibles, gifts, and crafts.

"To the Tourist Inn: Thank you for everything that you have done," her mother, Cassie Barrick said. "Everybody that came out today... thank you.  Anything that we get I am grateful for everybody that has [come], donated... all of that."

Most of the community came out to tonight's event including Senator Scott Wagner.

Penn Waste Management also announced that it would match donations to reach the event's goal of 10-thousand dollars.
