HARRISBURG, Pa. - Harrisburg and York members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community USA hosted a vigil in the wake of the San Bernadino shootings.
"We as Muslims are as much a part of the community, as anybody, and we want to show our solidarity," said member, Christopher Khalid-Janney.
The vigil served multiple purposes including an opportunity to pray for the victims, their families and those who were injured. Furthermore, they prayed for first responders and the chance for peace on earth. Members wanted to open their doors to answer questions and calm fears while educating people on their beliefs. In the wake of the attack, people are stereotyping Muslims.
"When things like these terrorists attacks come on, all it does is feed into their hatred and again they use that against all Muslims and it's not right," said attendee, Raymond Marks.
"Someone is claiming to be Muslim and they do something like this, this is against everything that Islam teaches," added Khalid-Janney.
"We strongly condemn terrorism in any form," said Ayesha Ahmad.
At anytime, they invite people to come to the Haadee mosque to ask questions. They would rather have a discussion than have hatered spread.
