Western PA police officer killed in the line of duty is laid to rest

CAMBRIA COUNTY, Pa.– A police officer, who was shot and killed in the line of duty in Western Pennsylvania last weekend, has been laid to rest.

Hundreds gathered at the Cambria County War Memorial on Friday to remember Officer Lloyd Reed. He was shot and killed while responding to a domestic dispute in New Florence, Westmoreland County. Officer Reed was wearing a bulletproof vest that night, but did not survive a gunshot wound to the chest.

Ray A. Shetler Jr., 31, has been charged in connection with his death.

Officer Reed served the Saint Clair Township community as a police officer for the past five years.  However, his entire law enforcement career spanned a total of 25-years.

He is survived by his wife of 15 years.
