HARRISBURG, Pa.--

Hundreds gathered for a dinner at the Harrisburg Armory to help stop the violence. Event organizer Lisa Burhannan lost her son to violence in 2009.

"You never get over it," she said. "You just learn to deal with it on a day to day basis. I have my good days. I have my bad days."

Jaquay Williams lost her mother to violence.

"I was always on the other side looking in, but I'm in it," she said.

The event also invited the families of the incarcerated families to enjoy dinner as well.

"You know to give a chance to think about things when you come back into society and want to be positive and do positive things," Burhannan said.

This is the second year for the event.

"I'm just overwhelmed and blessed at how we came together as a community," Burhannan said.
