LANCASTER, Pa.–A Lancaster man is now facing charges after authorities say he sold a batch of heroin that killed a Thaddeus Stevens College student in August.
Richard M. Quinn, 31, is charged with involuntary manslaughter and drug delivery resulting in death. Investigators said Quinn is in a rehab facility and will be arraigned on the charges at a later date.
Quinn admitted to police he sold 30-year-old Jeffrey C. Schlegel heroin to help support his own habit. Schlegel was found dead on Aug. 25 in a dormitory bathroom at the college. An autopsy showed he died of a drug overdose.
Police recovered Schlegel’s phone and learned he had been texting Quinn the day before his death to arrange a heroin buy. Investigators searched Quinn’s apartment and found 93 packets of heroin and $275 in cash.
Quinn was previously charged with felony drug dealing and posted bail on Sept. 3.
