HARRISBURG, PA- Police in Harrisburg are searching for a man who attempted to run over police during a traffic stop early Saturday morning.

According to police, they pulled over Sharief M. Hand, 22, for violating a traffic stop on the 100 block of North 17th Street around 12:20 a.m.
Police say back up officers arrived and one  police vehicle parked in front of Hand’s car so he wasn’t able to flee the scene. When police identified Hand, he reversed his vehicle into the officers vehicle.
The police officer pounded on his driver’s side window and ordered him to stop, police said.
Police said, Hand reversed again into the police vehicle and then accelerated forward. Another officer was getting out of that marked vehicle when Hand was driving towards him at a high-speed, police said.

The officer was able to dive back into the driver’s seat before Hand nearly missed hitting him and running into the door. Hand fled the scene but police later found his vehicle abandoned on North 19th and Park Streets.

Hand is currently on State Parole for a robbery, police stated in a news release.

None of the officers were injured.
Police have  charged Hand with attempted criminal homicide, aggravated assault, fleeing and eluding and six other  summary offenses.
Hand is to be considered dangerous and anyone with information on this incident or information on his whereabouts is asked to call Dauphin County Police Dispatch at 717-558-6900
