PLAINS, Ga.– The grandson of former president Jimmy Carter has died.

Carter made the announcement during his weekly Sunday School lecture at his church in Plains, Georgia today. The 91-year-old apologized for being late to the church, for the first time ever, and said only a few hours before, relatives tried unsuccessfully to revive Jeremy with CPR.

President Carter told the congregation that his 28-year old grandson hadn’t been feeling well on Saturday and laid down to take a nap at his family’s home in Peachtree City.

His mother checked on him later and discovered his heart had stopped.
He died early Sunday at the hospital. There’s no word yet on the cause of death.
