YORK TOWNSHIP, Pa.--

This December has been warmer than usual. This is allowing for golfers to enjoy some extra time out on the greens.

"Never played this time of year," Pat Barbato of York Township said.

He and his son Pat with Josh Luckenbaugh played a full 18 on Saturday.

"So we were just sitting around yesterday and saw it was going to be nice so we thought, let's play golf," he said.

And this means extra business for Springwood Golf Course.

"The play this year has been a lot better than any other year the eight years I've been here," Wayne Morris Golf Shop Pro Manager said.

He said profits have been up for this time of year, and they are selling a lot more merchandise as well. That comes as a result of more people coming in and playing.

"Which is a good thing because we also have Avalanche over at Heritage Hills, and we can't blow snow right now," Morris said.

This weather is something Morris and Barbato hope will last.

"Might as well play whenever you can," Barbato said.
